RESEARCHS & REPORTS

Our dedicated staff and volunteers have produced  3 different researches to contribute understanding social, economic and health challenges that disadvantaged community groups face and to recommend solutions that are pragmatic and appropriate.

Mental health

In 2019, after several deaths and suicidal cases related to mental health within the Somali community in Bristol, we have developed research about mental health and the Somali community in Bristol, to explore and provide insight and understanding about  multiple barriers that prevent the community to access available mental health provisions.

Impact of COVID-19

Challenges of covid-19 has disproportionally affected disadvantaged community groups and Somalis were amongst the hardest hit hard by the covid- 19. To understand the depth and impact of COVID-19 on the Somali community in Bristol who live in the most deprived wards of the city. In late 2020, our team started to conduct research about the impact of COVID-19 on Somali community in Bristol, for more information, please do check the link below.

Impact of Increasing cost of living

The cost of living crisis arrived before the community properly recovered from the challenges and difficulties of Covid-19, similar to the pandemic, increasing cost of living has disproportionally affected disadvantaged community groups from deprived areas who were previously affected by challenges of deprivation, poverty and inequality, after some of our team worked closely and supported communities during the pandemic and crisis.  This led our selfless team to lead this research, which contributed/to helping city leaders to understand better how the pandemic and cost of living crisis have affected the most disadvantaged community groups who are often underrepresented in services and participation in policy and academic research.
