our impact

Bristol Youth Connect (BYC) is a grassroots organisation that provides youth services across Bristol and the surrounding areas. We aim to offer culturally responsive support to disadvantaged young people and families who often face barriers to accessing mainstream services or require additional support. By delivering a wide range of community-led services, we help young people lead active, healthy, productive, and law-abiding lives.

Our work focuses on reducing school exclusions, preventing youth crime, helping young people to achieve their potential and improving the accessibility of services for marginalised young people. We have implemented different youth programs in the past to create a safe space for young people, to come together, involve physical activities, socialise and develop friendships. We brought young people and community groups from different postcodes and backgrounds to promote community cohesions, integration, and positive socializations. Our team has the knowledge, experience and community connections needed to empower and support the groups that we serve. Below is an example of our directors leading a campaign to educate, empower, and improve access to mental health support for the Somali community in Bristol encouraging young people and families to overcome the stigma and seek help when needed: Our team are familiar with challenges and needs of the community at grass root level, the link below is our director promoting vaccination in low vaccine uptake areas during pandemics.

Bristol Youth Connect (BYC) promotes dialogue around climate change through cycling, inspiring young people from minority ethnic communities to take part in discussions around climate change and improve their understanding about what to do individually to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmental inequalities. The link below is our team inspiring young people to take climate action in the community , encouraging more people to cycle, walk and use public transport to reduce carbon footprints.

Our youth provision which mainly happens in most deprived areas of the city, provide culturally appropriate services for the most marginalised young people in our society which many consider hard to reach. We collaboratively work with other service providers in the area and we create effective engagement which is an added value for the local services.
